At this time.
 ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL will not be offering place-based and capacity grants.

Grants Overview


Grant Categories: 

Grant Category 1

Fill Your Basket + Community Harvest: 

Sharing the Responsibility and Working Together

This grant provides funds for food initiatives or harvesting equipment that meet the needs of current and future generations.

Grant Category 2

Maintenance + Restoration:

 

Cleaning and Caring for the Land

This grant makes funds available for maintaining the integrity of the tə́ŋəxʷ | tumulhw (earth) and restoring balance to our ecosystems.

Grant Category 3

Storytelling:

Echoing the Land and Ancestors

This grant option focuses on echoing the stories of the tə́ŋəxʷ | tumulhw (earth) and our ancestors where the visions of our peoples can be heard, seen and felt together.

Grant Category 4

Transformation + Transition: 

Carrying the Legacy of Innovation and Creativity

This grant option seeks to promote innovation and creativity in our communities that hold up the knowledge of the land and our experiences as xʷílŋəxʷ | hwulmuhw.

 Grant Amounts:

Individual Grant

$100-1,000

Family-Community Grant

$1,000-5,000

Large-Scale Community Grant

Up to $10,000

How to Apply:

1.

Choose a from one of the four Grant Categories.

2.

Decide on the Grant Amount.

3.

Review the Criteria to see if you're eligible.

4.

Complete the Grant Application.

Note:

 

This entire Grant Process, including reviewing requirements and examples, can be done orally (phone or video) or in writing.

 

Do not feel discouraged if you have never applied for a grant before. We want to hear about your ideas and support the vision of our relations.

Applicants must:

  • Currently reside within the CRD (for grant distribution)

 

Applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Ancestral to one or more of the 4 ancestral territories ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL serves; 

  • Clear connection to any of the 4 ancestral territories served by ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL (ie. relationship to land, families, communities, etc); and/or

  • Indigenous Person or Persons living or working within the CRD, willing to follow local protocols of the lands in which they are on.

Project Eligibility: 

  • Commit to participating in ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL Indigenous-led Place Based Grant model;

  • Be in line with the ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL mandate and principles;

  • Clearly identify connection to any of the 4 ancestral territories;

  • Indigenous-led, priority given to local Indigenous leadership;

  • Meet with ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL Initiative Team (application and reporting stages); and

  • Commit to sharing project story with the ŚW̱,ȻENEṈITEL Initiative.
